27th Bremen Award for Video Art Call For Entries 2021

The Filmbüro Bremen supports the realisation and presentation of at least two video art projects with prize money amounting to a total of 10.000 Euro. We welcome all facets of video art: classical, (non)linear, audiovisual project ideas, those with a focus on installation, as well as ideas that challenge the boundaries of media art. 

Exclusively as of yet unrealised projects are eligible for funding. One of the awards is reserved for a project with ties to Bremen (i.e. the artist currently lives in Bremen, the subject matter is related to Bremen, the shooting location is in Bremen etc.). The prize money shall be used for the realisation of the artistic concept. The selected works will first be exhibited in Bremen. Towards this means, the Filmbüro helps to organise an exhibition of the award winning works in 2022. The exhibition traditionally takes place in one of Bremen's prestigious museums or galleries. Video artists from all German-speaking countries, as well as those from Bremen's or Bremerhaven's twin cities are invited to apply. Students are welcome. The call is not age-restricted. The jury will award at least one of the prizes to an applicant from Bremen, Bremerhaven or their twin cities (Besançon, Cherbourg, Dalian, Danzig, Durban, Frederikshavn, Grimsby, Haifa, Izmir, Kaliningrad, Pori, Riga and Szczecin). Applications must be submitted in German or English. Each applicant can only submit one concept. The prizes will be awarded by an independent jury.
