schizophrenic values

Yoan Mudry (born 1990 in Lausanne, CH) is a multi-disciplinary artist, currently living in Geneva. He studied at HEAD in Geneva, where he graduated with an MFA in 2014.

His work focuses on an attempt to understand the mechanisms of the flux of images, narrations and informations that are surrounding our world. Through a study of publicity, marketing and politics he tries to understand, how the informations we constantly receive can direct our thoughts and behaviours.

His second solo show at Nicolas Krupp titled Schizophrenic Values is composed of a new series of paintings based on internet found images. This new corpus of imageshas been selected in order to reflect some of the current crises of our globalized world: climate change, violence, ideological conflicts, animals vs humans, populism, ... .

The titles of the paintings for once don't play the game of added elements to his collages, but sound almost like absurd slogans, as: Animals are Bastards tooSave the Planet Kill yourself, You don't hate Monday. That new body of works is an attempt of the artist to play with recognizable «clichés» in order to interrogate humorously but seriously our own interior «clichés» and values.
